Nov. 5, 2019: "Stories Made Me Love You," by Matt Halvorson and Len Halvorson

All I’ve ever heard are stories

Some marvelous, but then, some were true

And I’m jealous of the memories

‘cause I never got to know you

Stories made me love you, it’s almost like I know

The man those people knew not so many years ago

Stories made me love you, it’s almost like it’s mine

The friendship that was shown not so long ago in time

Oh… stories made me love you

Still there is a time, I’m filled with fear.

Some people, they tell me that I’m like you.

And if you were so much a man,

that’s what I’ll have to try to be, too.

And I wonder… what you would think

And I wonder… what you would say

And I wonder… if you would love me

I think you would

Today I woke to my own grandkids

Filling my home with the sounds of their love

How lucky now to live the stuff

The best stories are made of

And I wonder… will they tell their kids my stories?

Will they be marvelous? Will they be true?

Will they feel the love I feel for them?

From the family they never knew

Will stories make you love me? Will it feel like you know

the man those people knew not so many years ago?

Will stories make you love me?Will you find you recognize

the friendship that was shown not so long ago in time?

And I’ll tell you now… I love you

I’ll tell you now… I love you

I’ll tell you now… I love you

Just like the stories made me love you
