4/1/25: “Jurickson Profar,” by Cousin Wolf

Cousin Wolf is the indie-folk music project of Matt Halvorson, a musician, writer and baseball fan living with his family in the woods north of Seattle. He is sharing a new song on the first of every month this year, and his song for today is called “Jurickson Profar.” It is a song about one of my favorite players, and about the way baseball and life are both cyclical. Every spring around this time, we start fresh -- right back where we started the season before. We update our lists and refresh our predictions, but we often get so caught up with what might come next that we forget to appreciate what we have right in front of us. Baseball is a sacred game, something to dream on, and something to be treasured right now, just the way it is.
