“Taking a Chance”

Cold water splashing over our feet;
You took it as an invitation to sidle up to me.
One moment unsure while standing on shore,
Before baptism by waves on a Cape Cod beach.

Then I knew I'd be taking a chance on love with you.

Cold air in a foreign sterile room;
Doctor said, one way or another, we'd hold our baby soon.
One moment unsure how the hell this could be,
But then transported back to that Cape Cod beach.

Zach Gore is a father, husband, musician and public school teacher living in Seattle. He and his brother, Mr. Ben, are half of the band Brite Lines, and they were reportedly raised by wolves in the woods, though this remains unconfirmed.
